I've decided to teach myself chess. I've found a decent program to let me play against the computer. As long as I keep at it, I'm fairly confident I can gain an average skill and understanding of the game. However, I don't believe learning chess is in fact the key to learning about the strategies of life, as many chess players I personally know have tried to teach me. I feel my brother summed it up best when he said, "It's just a strategy game." It is not the end all and be all of games. It is, in fact, a war game. A very elegant, logical war game. Does this make me want to learn it any less? No, but I cannot give it the same importance that so many seem to place on it.

Life is a strategy game as well, and that one can never be mastered.

Raine's inspiring me, and making wallpapers is relaxing, so I think I'll clear off my scanner and work on one for X -kai-.

Sometimes I love obscure manga. Only problem is my lack of command of the Japanese language limits my enjoyment of it to just the images.

I need a tutor/teacher. I can't afford a class yet.

Note to self, and possibly others: never try and learn a skill from a journeyman, their ego is still too big for them to teach effectively. They know enough to brag, but they are not masters.

The insidious, loathesome creatures still reside in my dwelling, of course. Nothing new there.

Yahoo has swallowed up my sbc DSL. They sent a letter today 'encouraging' me to update to the new service, even though this upgrade comes with, "no change to your email address, no change to your price, no change to your billing method, and no change to your high-speed DSL connection." If this is true, then I don't need to upgrade, because there's no change.

Corporate America kills me sometimes.
