And now, to my online cohorts, a request. If you have a nifty tip about anything, from cooking to freeware program to just how to do something, share it. I love tips. I love getting and sharing them. So feed my cravings.

Speaking of which, the mother-unit got this tip on how to make crispy fries out of fresh potatoes. If you've ever tried and just got those limp fries, well limp no more.

Thing is, you're going to need a candy thermometer.

Yup, afraid so. You'll need it to get the oil to the correct temp. And it's a two cooking step process.

Hey sweetie! My tip for today is always keep an old toothbrush and some Arm and Hammer baking soda toothpaste in your cupboard at all times... When your jewlery or small pieces of silverware get slightly tarnished, a good scrub with the old toothbrush and the baking soda toothpaste will take light tarnishes right out!...

My tip? If you ever get splinters that you just can't pry out with tweezers (tiny little fiberglass splinters, especially), try applying hot wax and tearing it off. You know, like you use to wax your legs? My dad did it once and it really helps, as long as they're not buried too deep.

Hydrogen peroxide is really great for getting stains out. Especially blood stains.
