". . . you know how you told me to make a new character the other day?" - 08 / 01 / 2002

"It was my pleasure."

"Hey Kal!" Kitsuki says brightly, "You wanna come on a wild adventure with us to a pocket dimension under the river Styx that involves risking life and limb and the very real possibility of death?"

". . ." Kaligo responds eloquently, his expression neutral.

"C'mon, it'll be fun!"

There is someone waiting for Alexandra when she arrives home.

He is tall, a head taller than Alexandra, with long dark hair and a widow's peak. His complexion is swarthy, his eyes a smoky grey. He looks like a blacksmith or maybe an ox, broad-shouldered and well-muscled, with a square face and a strong jaw, and a nose that looks like it might have been broken once before.

But there is no mistaking him for human. If the lizard-pupilled eyes and the pointed ears are not enough to convince you, he has a long, black reptilian tail snaking out behind him, with small dorsal spines that become large and sharp at the end.

(Time was when it was a poor dragon that could not mask his dragon features--save for the eyes. The eyes could never be hidden. But it was either a very young or a very weak dragon that could not at least hide his tail, and he would be made fun of by everyone. After the Great Wars, however, when the dragons began trade with the humans, it became a very poor dragon who would allow himself to be mistakened for a human.)

Alexandra had not expected to see Stanos Brenight again.

"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting," she murmurs, shouldering open the door. There is no need for locks, way out here in the country, and she has nothing of value in any case. Why Stanos waited outside when he could have let himself in is another case entirely.

"I did not wait long," Stanos said quietly, stepping in behind her. He makes himself at home at her kitchen table while Alexandra busies herself putting away the groceries.

"So, what bringeth you here to my abode?" Alexandra asks idly.

Stanos betrays no surprise at the sudden change in Alexandra's speech. It is well-known that the Ruby dragons read much of the old writings and prefer to speak in that style. "The Council's orders."

"The Council? What need have they of I?"

"No, not of you. The Council has need of a book. A very dangerous book in a very dangerous place."

Alexandra frowns. "Speak more."

OOC: My apologies for the incredibly crappy Old English. I figure the only way I'll ever get better is to keep practicing.

I hope I'm not trespassing on your plot, Gen. Tell me if I am and Stanos will go away quietly.

Is Stanos's color too dark for anyone to see?

Kitsuki, Kaligo, Alexandra, and Stanos

I don't mind, and yes, the color's a bit dark for me to see... (Considering I'm the other party, I should be the one who *can* see it.) /^^;
