(1:43 pm PT) - Happy Happy Joy Joy
[link] - (quixotic)

Happy Birthday to the ever talented Ronda, who continues to inspire great awe with what her hands can accomplish (and that doesn't sound dirty at all, brain. ¬_¬). Unfortunately, I'm made of fail gravy as I really wanted to get those things from last year (that would have been finished if school didn't hate me so much) to you, but, well, fail gravy is the fail. Until I can send something properly, I offer any web services, know-how, or other lacklustre talents to you.

Hope you have a good one today!

(4:35 pm PT) - headache...
[link] - (quixotic)

Major headache. Ow, the pain.. pain I say...

I'm almost halfway through Spiral, and after the first two eps, it was like watching someone play a very elaborate puzzle game. Not that I'm disappointed. It's unique. Just not what I expected.

Now, I am a dub fan by nature. (Anyone who doesn't like it or tell me I'm not a real anime fan can [censored]. However, there are voices that even if I haven't heard the original, still don't sound right. (Xelloss from Slayers comes to mind.) This time it's Kanone. I can't tell if they were going for a hick English accent or a Southern accent with the VA there. Sheesh. If I were half inclined, I'd have gotten into VA casting.

I'm not speaking as a yaoi fan when I say this, but I sincerely hope this series doesn't force the whole Ayumu and Hiyono thing. Not that I don't like her, I do, actually. I just don't want such things forced, yanno? I like them as friends, especially with her getting on his nerves.

Anyone know who has the license for the manga to this?

Kalli, I think I'm going to go ahead with the zine idea, so I'll probably solicit for content at yaoiville. Translation, expect me to bug you through th whole process, if that's okay.

Naw, no real point to this, other than the obvious of me really getting into Spiral.

Drabbles. Good, bad, or just fic teases?

(10:56 pm PT) - Because I have to remind myself of the little things
[link] - (quixotic)

Accomplishments:
Ordered the rest of Spiral. Saved $12. Will feast on more mystery soon.
Fixed polling page at Yaoiville, no more flash.
Turned in assignments by the skin of my teeth.
Backed up both Yaoivilles for server move tomorrow.
Did not maim, injure, or otherwise kill any blood relatives.
Got surprise bookbag from Axia.
Actually wrote a few paragraphs to dusty FFX fic. Maybe will finish before year is done.

Domino, definitely looking forward to the game. I have to stay on my non-violent streak to stay out of jail.

Have been exchanging emails with Kalli concerning a possible zine for Yaoiville. The only thing we can think of for content though is to solicit fic writers for new material. Am taking other suggestions and offers, though. (Unposted/published stuff.)

If I go by the tentative schedule provided by my academic counselor, I could get an AA by the end of the year. It's not much for shit, but it would mean a BA can't be too damn far behind.

(4:23 pm PT) - hail the random blog spammage
[link] - (quixotic)

I'm drowning in PHP code. Again. Seriously, this is not a new occurrence.

And why am I having such a hard time trying to edit this one part in an old fic? I wrote the damn thing years ago. There's 9 parts total. 1-5 were not a problem, and were improved by at least 30%. But 6? Sheesh, it's giving my trouble.

And I found the problem I've had with trying to start any new fics. I'm so hung up on the fact that there's so many I haven't finished that I've apparently given myself a block as a result. Anyone have ideas on how to break that? It's annoying me, really.

I have over 60 new background tiles to upload over at Bryony. Hopefully I can do that this weekend, without making any more which is what I've ended up doing more often than uploading.

I need to wallpaper. So I'm taking requests. If you have an image in mind, or know of a nice image archive, I'll paper faster than if you have just a subject matter. You can include a song with that if you want the lyrics incorporated in there, too.

I'm seriously considering breaking my years long streak of not buying new CDs and getting NIN's new one.

Oh yes, I got $75 off my (still breathing) brother to go towards getting myself a new PS2. I'm still mifed at him, but I guess I'll be civil--for now.

This random bit of probably absolutely nothing brought to you by the letters P E P S I.

Oh yes, Byrdie, do you do art commisions?

(11:44 am PT) - Blueblue
[link] - (quixotic)

The blue moon is upon me, for I am here, at home.

Alone.

[insert evil cackle]

Kit: have you considered chocolate soy milk, maybe with some hershey's syrup for kick?
Amber: Allergic to chocolate? Damn, suckage. (Unless you also don't like the taste, in which case I suppose it wouldn't matter.) But yes, cold milk can be equally refreshing.

My eyeballs doth hurt, from staring at php code all night, followed by an irc screen all morning.

And I should be doing something. But what? (And yes, that's a legit, "give me ideas" question.)

Ronda: thanks for the info. I'll probably grab some more this month, or perhaps order it in a scented lotion.

(4:20 pm PT) - KKM dvd
[link] - (quixotic)

So Kyo Kara Maoh 1 arrived in my box. And I have a problem with it already, given the 16:9 ratio. Damnit, I wish they'd give people a freakin' choice. Even if I wanted a widescreen, which I don't, (find them annoying), one wouldn't fit in here. And they're too expensive. Anyway, before I pop the player, just how many eps are there to this series?

Oh yes, that bit about Congress extending DST by two months is supposedly so Amaericans will save on consuming energy. And apparently, I'm not the only one who thinks the idea sucks. Really, it's not giving us more daylight, it's just taking an hour of sleep away. Sheesh.

So even though I've had it for a few weeks now, I only just recently finished reading Only the Ring Finger Knows. I am under pain of death from all my original characters not to squeal or fangirl in any sort of way. (They're paid to save my dignity.) So I will just say that manga goes onto my "favourite books" shelf.

Oooh, yes, Reload dvd 2 in my hot little hands. With a nice 4:3 ratio. ::goes to watch::

It cost me 53 bucks, it's probably a nosebleed seat, but I'm so freakin' going!

(8:35 pm PT) - small upchuck from the manga faerie
[link] - (quixotic)

Every month the manga faerie, along with her sister, the anime faerie, rape and molest my wallet, then sit around on their ass before they feel like delivering. So I guess the manga faerie had a generous mood, a very small one, and finally got off of a few things.

Finally, PSoH is over. I'm happy to see it go with an ending like that, too. How terribly depressing for Leon. Now all those post-manga fics make a lot more sense. You just feel like you should fix it somehow.

FAKE, ahh FAKE. your ending more than made up for it. I honestly don't know what took me so long, but I suppose it was karma that I got you and PSoH at the same time, saving you for later. You brought joy to my heart, and I'll be sad to see Dee and Ryo go.

Other things it dropped that I have yet to read: Legal Drug 1 & 2, and Only the Ring Finger Knows, which will probably be the next since (I think) that's a one shot.

And now, for corndogs.

(11:50 pm PT) - psychotherapy for plushie toys
[link] - (quixotic)

I find the strangest stuff online.

If you ever wondered what it would be like going into the psycology field, here's your game. Except your patients are traumatised plushies.

No, I'm not making that up, and quit looking at me funny. Like you guys haven't found strange things yourself.

::goes to cure the aquaphobic croc::

(3:40 pm PT) - Ah, the sweet scent of manga and anime crack
[link] - (quixotic)

Sharachan, got your package today. Thanks, you're an absolute doll! It would have taken me forever to get those volumes, since I kept putting PSoH down on the priority list.

And along with vol 8 & 9 of PSoH from Shara, I got a partial RightStuf order.

Watch as I bliss out on manga and anime, even as I fall further behind in reading and watching it.

Okay, self, from now until you're caught up, it's a minimum of one manga and one DVD a day, got it?

Least I'm caught up on my Fruits Basket manga. (Just as the boxset arrives. Talk about timing.)

And in closing, I absolutely DESPISE Hiro. I don't care what his problems or emotional issues are, I loathe that kid with an intensity to rival my hatred for rap music.

That is all.

(9:59 am PT) - It's the end of the world as I know it, and I feel fine
[link] - (quixotic)

Seven floors down, six until Rebirth.

Randomly, anyone know any surefire method of getting rid of ants? The dipshit who owns this place contracted some shoddy work, so know there's a hole in the sill that they keep coming in through everytime it rains, and I hate bugs. Hate them, fear them, freak out... you name it. It's a phobia, I'll freekly admit this, and I blame it on my sister who intentionally and sadistically terrorised me when I was still in single digits. (And she wonders some of the reasons as to why I don't talk to her.)

Ah, floor eight awaits. I'm coming, Hips!

(5:56 am PT) - to which I uncover myself and ask
[link] - (quixotic)

::peeks out from hiding space::

Is it over?

Yes, I was hiding during Xmas. And with good reason.

New Year's Eve, that's the one I want. Oh sure, I'm usually at home lamenting on the lack of a real social life, but this year I've got wine, cheap vodka, and dammit, I think I deserve to get smashed. (I haven't gotten rip roaring drunk in over five years, I think I'm due.)

::sigh:: Everything is late, and getting sent out Monday. To note, it was not my fault. Once again the M-unit screwed me over, this time by letting the younger sister give her a sob story and talk her into borrowing money off MY debit card. Don't you love how generous people are with your funds? Obviously, I told her, this makes it impossible to trust you, and please to give me my paypal card back. Though the damage is already done.

It's not about the money, but I'm tired of trusting the one person I thought I could, and getting a big fat one up the ass each and every single time, because she has no spine to tell other people no. But it's perfectly okay for me to get disappointed.

In other news, I've added a slew more of backgrounds over at Bryony. I've also added the sidebar section I've been meaning to. Currently, I'm creating a new blog on Nucleus so I can transfer the fiction, because oddly enough, that part was still using Greymatter. (Ick, not only is it perl, but it uses a flatfile DB, generates hardcoded pages, and we won't get into the whole "rebuilding" you have to do every time you want to change the template.) I'll hopefully finish that tomorrow. I have a new LJ layout waiting to be installed, but when I looked at S2 programming--well, let's just say Rome wasn't built in a day and leave it there. If would be nice if I could find a basic tutorial that takes you step by step through making a simple layout. Once I get the foundation, I know where to go on my own.

Another thing planned is a tarot script created solely by me, (versus my usual trick of just getting some freeware php). It's a card forecast of the day, but I could probably make it pull a spread. I'm just not sure if I want to.

Now that Xmas is over, (New Year's doesn't count, all the majority of you will do is get smashed anyway), I'd like to present an idea thought up between Mirchan and myself.

You probably have an old anime/game/book/etc you bought lying around somewhere. Or maybe some ancient files downloaded onto your comp. When it was new, you loved it. It entertained you, maybe even got you into a fandom. You were happy. But time goes by, tastes change, and it's been years since you thought about it.

For the third week of January, Miracle and I are going nostalgic, and pulling out that something we haven't seen in so long and looking at it, from start to finish, all over again. For me, that would be Slayers NEXT, on vhs tapes no less. That's the plan for those who want to join us. Just dust it off and give it another go. (After all, you bought/downloaded it for a reason, right?) Only rule is it should be something you haven't seen/played/read in at least a year's time. So no current obsessions, please.

So checking my calendar,I see that's from Jan 15th-22nd. If you're interested, get a little nostalgic with us. Revisit days gone by, and if you can, perhaps write a bit of fanfiction, draw if you'd like, or just post a review for it. And finally, if you like this idea, spread it around.

Me, I'm going back to sleep, because it is way too early, even for the day after Xmas.

Randomly, making snarky comments while watching The Nutcracker ballet (1977) is loads of fun.

(1:21 am PT) - I doubt this is what Freud had in mind.
[link] - (quixotic)

The following memes were sent to the appropriate departments in my head prior to posting my last NaNo part.

Hey, S. E.
When this NaNo thing is over, your ass is mine.
- Id
Dear Id,
If it wasn't for me, there wouldn't be a NaNo fic. Ego would flounder for something to do, while Id would do the usual acts of gluttony and laziness. I think I'm being underappreciated here.

P.S. That last scene was much too violent. I don't think Id should be allowed to write those anymore.
- SuperEgo

To: SuperEgo and Id
Re: daily word count harping
SuperEgo, I'm going with Id on this one. Unless you lighten up, then when this is through, yours will be a busted derriere. Verily.

And the violence stays. Fates know I need something in my life when dealing with you two.
- Ego

(8:40 am PT) - Bdays
[link] - (quixotic)

Cheers (and beers) for Domino, who's reached the illustrious age of 27 today.

Oh, Domino, before I forget, check-in is 3pm on the 28th, though looks like I won't get there until 7-8pm, just so you know.

Hope today is, if not happy, then stress-free and bish-full.

(6:00 pm PT) - Bday thanks
[link] - (quixotic)

Quick thanks for the Bday wishes:
Ronda: who's art I will love forever and ever
Ko-chan and Mina: best set of evil twins I could ever know, even if they are doing each other behind my back.
Amber: yes, us L's must stick together
And (last but certainly not least) Miracle: Loved the card, m'dear. You're the reason I manage not to snap and kill anyone. I just think of you and calm down, then grin when I imagine what your Hakkai side would do.

::scribble scribble scribble::

I just got through looking at TSS on G4TechTV. They showed a comp Yoshi made that had 2 terabytes of HD space.

Yes, folks, I had a joygasm watching that.

Point? You want this post to have a point? HAH! I chuckle at your need for reason.

(3:20 am PT) - The Lament of IE
[link] - (quixotic)

Oh IE. Your youthful days are gone. What has happened to you? You used to be on the top of your game. You reigned browser supreme. You once had the best noted css rendering around. Plus with your vigor, you boasted stupid web design tricks that blatantly laughed in the face of valid code.

Now look at you. IE6 is the Netscape4 of the browser world. Look what's become of you. You're like a middle-aged guy with a beer gut, still wearing kiddie clothes. You're a joke; a laughing stock on your best days, a nightmare on a web designer's worst. Do you know how many campaigns people have to urge others to dump you?

Even I, who stood faithfully by your side for low these many years, am being swayed by the glitter of better css rendering. Of browsers growing up, getting wiser as they mature. But not you. You've gone stale on me. Those once cute design tricks are now stupid and just give validation headaches. But design around you people must, because you're still the browser most surfers use. Frankly, I'm beginning to wonder why.

Grow up, IE. It's time to fall in line with the others who are already so far ahead of you. Even your popularity won't be able to stand up forever without something to give the people, and they will leave. It's only a matter of time.

Me? I'm packing even as we speaking.

(7:44 pm PT) - "What we have here is... a failure to communicate."
[link] - (quixotic)

Okay, peeps, while I'm grateful for the tips, I didn't mean in my post/journal. I meant in yours, and randomly, like when you just discover it or the inspiration strikes. Otherwise, not only will the post in question will get bumped down, but a lot of people get the rss feed on LJ, which doesn't show comments posted here, and nobody else is going to see it either, just me.

Information sharing, that's what I'm about. And not just me, because when you post it in your journal, everyone who reads it will see the tip as well. If you just comment here, I'm the only lucky sucker.

Make any sense?
