(11:04 am PT) - love hate love dreaming
[link] - (awake)

Ignore that subject line, it's an inside mini rant to a dream I had.

Now then, first and foremost, a very happy birthday to Miss Kalloway. Because I are Dorkmeister who didn't plan even when I knew it was coming, I can only offer one of these: something off your wishlist (Amazon or whatever other place you might shop at), fic (though don't think we're currently running in the same circles), or web design/construction services (graphics, layout work, application installation, etc). And also feel free to beat me with wet noodle for being so horrible mismanaged.

Hmm, other thing... that PW fic I mentioned? Did I say 4k? Ah ha ha ha... over 5k and climbing. Short fic = failsauce.

(7:23 pm PT) - friendly reminder and misc other things
[link] - (contemplative)

Been meaning to post this for a few days, but keep getting sidetracked. If you get the Locuran feed and you post a comment to the LJ post versus either Locuran or IJ, I won't get any notice of said comment and will likely miss it altogether. Each feed post has a link to the actual post to comment on, or if you're on IJ, you can grab me there.

Other stuff: in the middle of what is turning into a monstrous PW fic, but I don't want to post until I'm finished, darnit. Right now I average about 500 words a night, and I think I'm somewhere around 4k. (It's all Mina's fault.) But at the same time I'm a bit happy as I was worried I was forgetting how to write for anything other than NaNoWriMo.

Many technical mishaps on this side of the screen this last week, the most recent being my own fault. I'm happy that I had enough knowledge to be able to fix it on my own with minimal loss.

About the post from the previous Sat. Gnome asked, so I explained the cause of it to her here, for the curious.

Right, need to finish T&T before I get AJ:AA (which will make me gag, I'm sure), and Professor Layton.

(6:15 pm PT) - Thank you for your not help
[link] - (indescribable)

Someone explain to me why when I post what I'd like to think is a simple enough question, I get the most useless and unhelpful answers one can get, not to mention completely incorrect as I've read some and was just looking for more.

Suggestions on how to answer this fop, or just ignore?

(4:42 pm PT) - urges
[link] - (traumatized)

This is a sincere plea coming from the bottom of my heart. Please, remind me of the many reasons why just succumbing to insanity and doing away with the entire lot of my family is an extremely bad idea.

(11:16 am PT) - Software stuff
[link] - (blah)

I'm on the Giveaway of the Day feed, which is a site that gives one commercial program away free each day, (and gives away two games on the weekend). Most times the offerings aren't my cuppa, but this one came up today and I thought it looked interesting for writers and such.

Liquid Story Binder XE.

But there's a catch. You have to install the program on the day they're giving it away. No downloading and sitting on it, I'm afraid. So you only have a limited amount of time to get and install it. The homepage will say how much time is left for the program of the day.

I'll try it out myself and see, but thought I'd pass the link along if anyone wanted it.

(1:50 pm PT) - Is it over yet?
[link] - (geeky)

That last class wouldn't have been so bad if the instructor hadn't been such an egoist. I'll likely have to contest the grade once I get it later this week. Jerk.

But not why I'm posting, no. Was wondering if anyone who has Animal Crossing: Wide World felt like dusting it off to help me get Nookington's. I started replaying from scratch as I knew I hadn't been there in a while, and that's the only thing I need help getting back. All wifi/ds info below. If you don't want to make a public comment with the info, you can either email me, or hit my IJ as I'll screen comments there. Likely I won't try to schedule a direct time so much as just leave it on once I add, so no rush.

(2:44 pm PT) - A perfect world... not
[link] - (tired)

One day I will live in a world where egos will cease to hinder good judgement.

Until then, I'll rant about the stupid morons on my blog.

The above is apropos to nothing.

@Lari: The previous post about support? That was actually on a VB forum when I was trying to get some info to help with my current class project. (I think you can view without registering...) And yes, I've gotten unhelpful comments at Dragonspam as well. =_=

Further random, I grabbed a widget from LibraryThing to show the latest books I've scanned into my library. It's only my IJ/LJ profiles. Now I just have to figure out the best place on Locuran.

(12:14 pm PT) - Support/volunteers could stand to be gracious as well
[link] - (annoyed)

I've seen, read about, and even lamented on the sad creature known as the noob. Not to be confused with the newbie, who will generally take time out to read over as much info as they can manage before asking a question, a noob jumps right in without regard to rules, FAQs, and the like. And I can completely understand the frustrations of dealing with noobs, truly.

But on the flip side, supporters/volunteers who decide to answer a post need to have some graciousness as well. Just because one is offering their smattering of knowledge for free doesn't mean they can shovel it any way they feel. Chances are good that in doing so, they're going to make a mistake and look like an even bigger ass for it.

So, to those answering posts that show the OP has more than two braincells rubbing together:

Don't tell me "that's wrong" without an explanation, or I'll never learn anything other than to avoid you.

Don't tell me I shouldn't do that without telling me why and suggesting what I should do instead. Again, the only thing I'll learn is to keepaway.

You weren't born with that knowledge, so at some point you didn't know yourself. Therefore at one time you were no different than I am at the moment I'm asking the question. Kindly remove yourself from the highhorse or don't bother answering.

People are defensive creatures by nature. A newbie isn't a noob simply for retaliating to an obvious, unwarranted attack. Sure, a cooler head would prevail, but don't incite an argument from the standpoint of sheer arrogance.

And you're right, I don't have to stay. You're not the only game in town. I don't need you as much as you want to believe I do. You're more convenient, but hey, Google is in my bookmarks for a reason. Chances are you just hit higher up in the results the first time through.

So I will read the rules and FAQs before answering a question, thereby avoiding the risk of being a noob. In return, you answer the post in the same fashion, or don't answer at all. Either way works for me.

(9:09 pm PT) - Impulse buy
[link] - (geeky)

So Mina and I were exchanging a few emails that went beyond "Site trouble!" "I'm on it!" ^^ Honestly, we've both just been that busy and bad at commenting. But anyway, we mentioned Phoenix Wright (the gay, oh the gay), and I didn't have Trials and Tribulations yet. (I'll save Apollo Justice for next month.)

Well, there's a GameStop next door to my comic book place. First I was lamenting that New Exiles 8 wasn't out yet (Creed actually looks hot in that manly fashion, but they did Remy wrong, making him Namor's son, who happens to have a makeover of his own). Then I figured 'why not' and just went to see if they had T&T over there.

So now I'm $20 bucks poorer and knee deep in objections. Bad me.

@ Kit: If I don't hear from anyone else by the 14th, I think I will let it go. (Heck, do they still even hold blogathon any more? I never checked after they took that year off.)

(10:54 am PT) - Question BTers of yore
[link] - (awake)

This is to the former (and seemingly disbanded) Blue Tumbleweeds group. The domain is up for renewal on the 15. Do I keep it or let it go?

Daily Genism: There are those who say I must write certain pieces, be it poetry, prose, fiction, or non fiction, in a particular style, format, outline, etc. They tell me that unless I write a thing in a specified manner, then whatever I'm writing is not what I'm writing at all. These are the people who would stuff my imagination in a bottle, label it, and set it on the shelf for about /$2.25.

I say, I at least want a coupon, damnit.
